ECHO NDE is currently seeking a CEDO Technician to join and contribute to our inspection team. This full-time position will report into the Division Manager and support operations throughout Alberta. 

Responsibilities

  • Assist Radiographic Technicians with the preparation, setup, positioning, and operation of radiographic exposure devices, including gamma and X-ray equipment.
  • Operate radiographic exposure devices and sources in accordance with applicable legislation, company procedures, client requirements, and radiation safety standards.
  • Perform pre-use equipment inspections and assist with equipment checks, maintenance, and calibration as required.
  • Establish, barricade, and maintain controlled areas around radiographic work sites to ensure the safety of workers and the public.
  • Monitor radiation levels using appropriate radiation detection equipment and maintain safe exclusion zones throughout radiographic operations.
  • Assist with the execution of radiographic examinations of welds, materials, and components under the direction of qualified Radiographic Technicians.
  • Follow all radiation protection procedures and take appropriate action to prevent unnecessary radiation exposure.
  • Maintain accurate exposure, radiation safety, equipment, and inspection documentation.
  • Identify and report equipment deficiencies, unsafe conditions, or potential radiation safety concerns to the appropriate supervisor.
  • Maintain radiographic equipment, tools, and work areas in a clean, organized, and inspection-ready condition.
  • Comply with all company, client, regulatory, and site-specific health, safety, and quality requirements.
  • Travel to various client sites and work a variety of shifts, including evenings, nights, weekends, and extended hours as required.

Requirements

  • Certified Exposure Device Operator (CEDO) certification is required.
  • Basic knowledge of conventional and advanced NDE methods is considered an asset.
  • Current safety certifications, including Confined Space, H2S Alive, Standard First Aid, and other industry-recognized training, are considered an asset.
  • Demonstrates sound judgment and a strong commitment to safety when working in radiographic and NDT environments.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients, supervisors, and maintenance personnel.
  • Willingness and ability to travel to various client sites.
  • Valid Class 5 driver's licence with a clean driving record.
  • Eagerness to learn, develop technical skills, and work effectively as part of a collaborative team.
